Family: husband, Bill, and daughter Shana Festa

Tell us how you ended up in this line of work.
I knew I wanted to be an interior designer and entrepreneur when I was 5 years old.
I, along with my sister, purchased a store in the Midwest; we packed it up and opened it up in Shoppers World.
What are two memories from your career that stick with you the most?
My wonderful employees. Some have stayed with me for more than 30 years.
My amazing clients, who seek me out to stay in touch and refer me to their friends.
What do you most like and least like about your work?
I love the constant change and diversification of my projects from furnishing a hunting lodge to designing a grocery store or someone’s home.
What I least like about my work is that it takes me away from my family and friends, and having to decline so many social events. Working weekends is a given.
What advice do you have for someone who wants to open a business?
This particular business takes a long time to build a following and a referral stream.
Have a good amount to invest in your company as furniture is an investment… and definitely not for the faint of heart.
